Report about LPW Presentation at B2 – BSO Twinnings Kick-off Conference, Istanbul 26-27 January 2012

Nataliia Martynenko, the League of Professional Women (LPW) Board member, participated in the EU-funded East Invest Project`s B2 – BSO Twinnings Kick-off Conference that took place on 26-27 January 2012, in Istanbul.  

East Invest is a regional investment and trade facilitation project of EUROCHAMBERS for the economic development of the Eastern Neighborhood region, launched in the framework of the European Eastern Partnership initiative. It targets Business support organisations and SMEs from the 6 Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine), who have potential for developing mutual cooperation and investment relations with the European Union. http://www.east-invest.eu/ 

The conference brought together about 40 participants from the EU and Eastern partnership countries and Turkey – which represented 15 Twinnings that will be implemented within the framework of East Invest Project.

The East Invest twinnings will encourage concrete and sustainable co-operation between the EU and EaP business support organisations (BSOs) by supporting the implementation of joint projects.

The main objectives of the twinnings are:

  • To establish a long term technical cooperation (12 months maximum) between three or more similar BSOs, offering transfer of know-how in one or more specific areas.
  • To create sustainable links between BSOs from the EaP and the EU that will go beyond the duration of the project period.

LPW’s twinning partners are:

Siauliai Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts (SCCIC), Lithuania - Lead partner; Formaper – training Agency of Milan Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts, Italy.  

Inga Medzidoviene, Head of International Affairs and Business Development Department Siauliai Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts, representative of the Lead partner of the twinning and Nataliia Martynenko, LPW Board member, presented the twinning Project “Building capacities and twinning cooperation for effective support to women entrepreneurs, in the framework of the East Invest Programme”.

Areas of twinning for LPW: 

  • Development of innovative services and proposals
  • Diversification of income sources
  • Improvement of fundraising activities and reduction of the financial dependence from donors
  • Promotion of new services for SMEs
  • Organizational development
  • Business matchmaking, SME and export promotion.

Twinning activities: 

  • Priority learning needs analysis of Ukrainian women entrepreneurs (in 2 Regions) 
  • Organization of a tailored study visits programme in Italy and Lithuania
  • Preparation of the Strategy to upgrade LPW performances
  • Validation of the Strategy Paper and the Workshop in Ukraine
  • Updating of LPW website.


Project duration – 12 months (starting January 2012)

Exit strategy:

  • Organizational improvements to raise LPW proficiency.
  • Fundraising Group set-up to mainstream co-operation
  • activities of twinning partners.
  • LPW web site upgraded and a new section developed.
  • The new services available at LPW promoted.
